WORKPLACE WELLNESS
The Faculty Wellness Program has developed a 1.0 hour CME asynchronous “Workplace Wellness” mini course that provides educational videos and small quizzes on the fundamental framework and initiatives for workplace health promotion, and useful tips and resources for applying healthy lifestyle behaviors and stress management practices at work.
FACULTY WELLNESS PROGRAM
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) Faculty Wellness Program Links to an external site. is housed within the Office of Faculty Affairs Links to an external site.. This is a new program that started in 2019, and was developed to promote wellness initiatives that supports faculty health, quality of life, and professional success at TTUHSC El Paso.
Overview: The wellness program is working toward assessing the current landscape and the population needs, in order to make informed decisions that will shape the priorities and key objectives for wellness activities and educational opportunities, communication strategies, and policy, systems and organizational improvements.
Vision: To promote an organizational culture and healthy work environment that supports optimal wellness and professional fulfillment of the TTUHSC El Paso faculty.
Mission: To identify and deliver an integrated comprehensive approach that optimizes wellness interventions and strategies that can influence individual behavior change and organizational culture to promote the wellness and career growth of the TTUHSC El Paso faculty.
Weekly Synchronous Sessions
- LDA II and IFDP XX area directors chose the most relevant topics, speakers, and panelists for the synchronous sessions.
- Speakers, moderators, and panelists will discuss a step-by-step process, tips, case studies, and links to the institutional resources and policies that explain how our organization can effectively share its own best teaching, leadership, scholarship, and research practices internally.
- LDA II – Teleconferences, panel discussions, and workshops will occur every Wednesday or Friday, from noon to 1:00 pm (38 synchronous sessions; 38 CME/CNE credits). (From August 2021 To March 2022)
- IFDP XX – Teleconferences, panel discussions, and workshops will occur every Tuesday, from noon to 1:00 pm (27 synchronous sessions; 27 CME/CNE credits). (From October 2021 To May 2022)

The overall goal of this course is to introduce you to effective communication and active listening skills. This course will provide you with the tools for effective engagement in difficult conversations, and will teach you how to respond to disruptive behavior, and successfully manage conflict situations. |

Succeeding and Advancing as Faculty |
This course serves as a guide through different career stages; from onboarding and early career, to retirement planning. This course also provides tips on how to turn your clinical, educational and administrative work into scholarship, and how to prepare your CV, biosketch and personal statement. |

Leadership Skills Course |
This course gives an overview of desired leadership skills. Topics include hiring skills, teambuilding, running successful meetings, strategic planning, and basics of building a budget. |
